Haiku
About a city full of glory,
There was a king of the town,
The day before yesterday he was crowned.
He said he will change the city's fate,
Make it richer and so great,
That no one could ever say,
That his head was filled with hay.
He went to the port and saw some ships,
He ordered them all to be whipped,
As they were making so much noise,
That he couldn't even hear his own voice.
One day he headed to the market,
With his soldiers and a few muskets,
Ordered, he, to the soldiers,
Kill all the landholders.
The soldiers did what he said,
All the market was now dead,
No one was left with a soul,
The market was killed in whole.
He said he will change the city's fate,
Make it richer and so great,
That no one could ever say,
That his head was filled with hay.
On Sunday he went to the church,
And people were left in a lurch,
Everyone, be quiet he cries,
Then sings his prayer in a hoarse voice.
Then he ventured the jail at night,
Ans saw his rebels in dim light,
He shouted, kill all these rebels,
And they were hanged from the city's bell.
At last, he toured his castle,
He saw everyone was in a hassle,
He got annoyed with this all,
And brought all the disciples against the wall.
He called his soldiers for the disciples,
They were armed with swords and rifles,
He said, kill them all, one by one,
Hence, they all were shot with the gun.
His city was left in pain,
His actions were all in vain,
No one was left alive,
No one was left to thrive.
But, he said he will change the city's fate,
Make it richer and so great,
That no one could ever say,
That his head was filled with hay.
I wrote this poem in 2013 when I was in class 11th. This poem is inspired by Vikram Seth's 'The Tale of Melon City'.
